Our Approach to Care
At American Integrative Psychiatry, we believe in the value of the therapeutic relationship. We prioritize in-person care, as we believe meeting face-to-face is essential for building a strong foundation for your treatment.
- Establishing Care: We prefer to conduct all initial psychiatric evaluations in-person to ensure a comprehensive and personalized assessment. If your initial visit is held virtually, we require an in-person office visit within the first three to six months of establishing care to complete your clinical assessment.
- Ongoing Support: As we partner in your wellness, we typically schedule follow-up visits in-person or via telehealth, depending on your clinical needs.
- Flexible Hybrid Care: We understand that life is busy. Once care is established and a treatment plan is stable, we offer a flexible, blended model of in-office and virtual appointments to best accommodate your schedule and clinical goals.
Clinical Evaluations & Symptom Care
We provide thorough diagnostic assessments to help you understand and overcome the real-life challenges impacting your daily function. Instead of just treating a broad diagnosis, we work to uncover the root causes behind the specific struggles you face every day, including:
Focus & Performance: Pronounced trouble focusing at work or school, chronic procrastination, and memory or productivity gaps.
Mood & Temperament: Persistent irritability, sudden anger, emotional exhaustion, sadness, lack of motivation and chronic fatigue.
Relational/Relationship Strains: Navigating severe marital stress, managing cycles of spousal disappointment, or coping with the painful aftermath of divorce.
Physical Manifestations: Chronic stress-induced headaches, migraines, debilitating nightmares, and sexual dysfunction linked to mental health or past medication side effects.
Behavioral & Financial Strains: Impulsive decision-making, unexpected trouble managing money, overspending, and difficulty maintaining daily routines.
Coping & Substance Use: Turning to alcohol or substance use to manage stress, quiet a racing mind, or numb emotional pain.
Physical Disruptions: Disruptive sleep troubles, severe insomnia, or waking up feeling completely unrefreshed.
Psychiatric Medication Optimization & Reduction: Expert evaluation to safely taper, reduce, or streamline complex medication regimens inherited from former providers, minimizing side effects while protecting your clinical stability.
Clinical Diagnoses & Specialized Care
We provide expert, evidence-based psychiatric evaluation, stabilization, and long-term management for complex clinical conditions. If you have been previously diagnosed, suspect you are struggling with, or require an updated clinical perspective on any of the following, we offer structured medical care:
- Depressive Disorders: Major Depressive Disorder (MDD), Persistent Depressive Disorder (Dysthymia), and specialized strategies for Treatment-Resistant Depression.
- Anxiety & Panic Disorders: Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Panic Disorder, social anxiety, and severe situational phobias.
- Obsessive-Compulsive & Trauma Strains: Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD), acute stress responses, and trauma-related distress impacting daily life.
- Attention & Executive Dysfunction: Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) in adults, helping you manage profound executive dysfunction at work or school.
- Bipolar Spectrum & Mood Instability: Meticulous diagnostic tracking and rational psychopharmacology for Bipolar I and Bipolar II disorders to protect long-term stability.
- Crisis Prevention & Safety Care: Dedicated clinical support and intervention for individuals navigating passive self-harm thoughts, persistent emotional numbness, or sudden mood shifts.
- The clinical conditions listed above represent our core focus areas, but our diagnostic and therapeutic scope is comprehensive.
Life Transitions & Integrative Support
Mental wellness cannot be separated from what is happening in your day-to-day environment. We provide a collaborative, restorative space for individuals navigating intense life disruptions, physical symptoms of distress, or career burnouts, including:
- Life Disruption & Relational Conflict: Dedicated therapeutic support to process severe marital stress, the painful lifecycle of divorce, or major family transitions.
- The Mind-Body Connection: Active, integrative care to identify and treat the physical toll of mental distress, focusing on chronic stress-induced headaches, migraines, fatigue, and debilitating nightmares.
- Workplace & Academic Burnout: Strategies to manage severe occupational exhaustion, high-pressure career stress, and executive dysfunction that impacts your livelihood.
- Proactive Lifestyle Design: Building concrete, practical daily habits across sleep hygiene, nutritional mindfulness, and stress reduction to sustain long-term clinical recovery.
